lyrics

How come they only see the negative inside of me
Been working everyday to make a difference and gradually
I take another step but I keep tripping on my tragedies
I need to find a way to take away the pain and make it a memory

Look, I will never change but my mind elevate
Damaged by my past thoughts, that’s where I keep them lyrically
Jot them all down, trying to make a song
Write a piece of perfect poetry or form a perfect melody

To anyone hating always taking the happiness
Y’all deserve a better place instead of your predicament
The realest would never look down to anyone struggling
So budge up it and make wonderful life for the next generation

We are stronger as a nation but lose power when divided
I am seeking better knowledge for my people undecided
Where they going, where they’re headed, where their head is
While they drinking, firewater is burden
But don’t let it take the image away

Fuck you, it’s my life, I'll die slow
I know where I'm from, where I'll go
I feel everybody's against me
I know nobody's a friendly

Fuck you, it’s my life, I'll die slow
I know where I'm from, where I'll go
I feel everyone is against me
I know anybody will tempt me

I used to ask if they could hear me
Now I see not only can they hear and see but they ignore me
The native seen as a story,
Legend dead in his story
Records meant to be buried, hurry they rising before me
Blended, came in the rez and suspended
My language hanging by a thread in what's said to be heaven
I'm losing my talk with every text and letter I sended
Respect intended, maybe I'm meant to be extinct, left for dead

But every rez is resurrected when it comes together
When the challenge represents itself we end it
We going against them, using our words
With these weapons to be heard
Don't get upset if you end up hurt

Our people are dead but that's expected
This double standard’s got me stranded
Cuz I'm mixed, but I’ma yell it
Niiyuu Naskapi Eeyou, never forget it
I guess the message is better be prepared for the exit
Cuz when you see you perished, culture and tribe ascended

So how do we make the transition
From all this trauma inflicted
By all these catholic missions
When their only true mission
Was to create a division between the Indian man
And the creator’s own vision
Replaced our own teachings with genocidal incisions
Locked us up in their prisons
For their freaking judge’s decision
Propagate their own lies through our own televisions
And falsify the news about all our collisions

Fuck you, it’s my life, I'll die slow
I know where I'm from, where I'll go
I feel everybody's against me
I know nobody's a friendly

Fuck you, it’s my life, I'll die slow
I know where I'm from, where I'll go
I feel everyone is against me
I know anybody will tempt me

I've been on the frontlines and I felt the energy
Of a thousand warriors standing up to the enemy
I feel the power that my ancestors sent to me
With my drum in my arm and my feather in hand
I can feel the heartbeat from our mother, the land
So I synchronize the sound with every step I advance
You can feel the earth shake from the Indigenous stand
And we'll rise up and conquer like our ancestors planned
